Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs (ICHA) is a state agency created by the Idaho Legislature to improve the quality of life for Hispanic and Latino communities across the state. We serve as a liaison between the Hispanic community, government agencies, nonprofits, and businesses.

ICHA is overseen by a board of commissioners appointed by the Governor of Idaho. Commissioners represent diverse regions of the state and guide policy and priorities.

ICHA is funded through state appropriations, via the General Fund, and additional funding from grants, sponsorships, and individual donations, via the Dedicated Fund.

Mission: To serve as the bridge between Idaho’s government and Hispanic population. We represent our shared values and set priorities that foster positive relations, effective partnerships, and strategic initiatives to connect our community.

Vision: A vibrant Hispanic community whose success, contribution, and culture enriches Idaho values and priorities.

We focus on initiatives that address the needs of Idaho’s Hispanic community, including:

  • Education & Youth Leadership – hosting statewide Idaho Youth Leadership Summit events.
  • Health & Wellness – connecting families with resources and promoting access to care.
  • Economic Development – supporting workforce and small business opportunities.
  • Civic Engagement & Leadership – encouraging representation in public service.
  • Research & Policy – publishing data and reports on issues affecting Hispanic Idahoans.

ICHA serves the Hispanic population of Idaho as well as the organizations, state agencies, and community partners who work with or on behalf of this community.

No. ICHA does not provide direct services such as housing, legal aid, or financial assistance. Instead, we connect individuals to available resources and collaborate with organizations that provide these services.

ICHA publishes annual reports, fact sheets, and research studies. These are available on our website under the Publications section.
